Water-Based Detergents

The second step of double cleansing, or the only cleanser for your morning routine, has a specific task: to remove hydrophilic impurities (sweat residue, dead skin cells on the surface, traces of the previous oil cleanser) and bring the skin to a balanced pH, ready to absorb subsequent products.

The difference between a good water-based cleanser and a mediocre one is seen in the long run. A cleanser that is too aggressive (pH too high, aggressive surfactants like SLS) removes the natural hydrolipidic film, leaving the skin feeling "tight" after washing, a sensation that many mistake for "clean" but which indicates a compromised barrier.

The textures of water-based cleansers are: gel (for combination and oily skin, good lathering, effective cleansing), foam (very light, ideal for normal and sensitive skin), and mousse (a middle ground, pleasant application, easy rinsing)

While the oil dissolves the makeup, the water-based cleanser (foaming, gel or cream) takes care of "rinsing away" anything that remains.

This is the step that guarantees truly clean skin, preventing the onset of impurities and allowing toners and serums to be absorbed better.

At AurynSkin we favor low pH formulas, similar to that of the skin, to avoid irritation.

Every skin has its ideal "pamper":

    • Cleansing Gel: Fresh and purifying, it is the favourite for combination and oily skin (e.g. Mizon cleansers).
    • Mousses and Foams: Light and already emulsified, ideal for those looking for a quick but soft cleansing (e.g. Missha mousses).
    • Cleansing Cream: Rich and hydrating, perfect for dry or mature skin that needs nourishment even during washing (e.g. Luque cleansing cream).

After rinsing off the oily cleanser, apply a small amount of water-based cleanser to the palm of your hand.

Lather up a little water and massage onto a damp face in circular motions for at least 30-60 seconds.

Rinse with warm water (never too hot!) and pat your face dry with a soft towel or disposable paper towel.

If your skin feels tight after washing, you're probably using a cleanser that's too harsh or has a pH that's too high.

It depends on the product and how it is used.

Choosing a formula that's right for your skin and cleansing sparingly helps maintain comfort and balance.

Yes! Even if you don't wear makeup, your skin accumulates pollution, fine dust, and sebum throughout the day.

Additionally, sunscreen (SPF) is often water-resistant and requires the oil step to remove.

Using only a water-based cleanser could leave sunscreen residue in your pores, causing blackheads or dullness.

Absolutely. In the morning, your skin needs to remove the sweat and excess sebum produced overnight, as well as any residue from your evening cream.

In this case, you can skip the oil step and just use your favorite water-based cleanser to gently wake up your face.
